Structure
There are two ways of completing the
programme, formal or
distance
learning.
Formal
Learning
This is the most popular way of completing
PRP as learners benefit from attending group sessions
gaining not only from the speaker but also from each other.
It is run nationally by
educational institutes,
independent training providers or primary care organisations
who purchase sets of material from us and run training sessions
based around the material. A set of material is
required for each person who will be attending the course.
An
organisers pack is provided on loan.
It contains organisational advice, tutor guidelines,
answer guides, course stationery and a set of learners
material. In addition organisers have the
support of Radcliffe who are always happy to provide advice.
Learners
attending a formal course receive the same material as those
studying by distance learning. The course organiser undertakes the majority of the administration; including
assessing the practice-based assignment, collating the
paperwork and issuing the certificates.
If you
would like further information on becoming a course
organiser or if you would like to know if there any courses
due to run in your area please email

Distance
Learning
The demand for PRP among those excluded by
distance, domestic commitments or personal choice gave rise to this flexible
option.
Each part of
PRP can be completed at times convenient to the learner and
their practice. Learners require a work-based mentor
whose main responsibility is to
provide advice and
encouragement, this would normally be a practice manager, senior
receptionist, GP or similar.
Learners use the same material as their formal learning colleagues
but Radcliffe administers the paperwork and they have their assignments assessed by our
independent external assessor. This is all
included in the price of the distance learning material.
We provide guidelines for
the learner and mentor which clearly explain all about the
programme. In addition distance learners and their
mentors can contact Radcliffe for advice and support.
